Safety on PlusOne

The tools in the app, and a few habits that help on any first date.

In the Safety Centre

All of this is one tap from any date.

  • Silent SOS. Hold for 2 seconds. The Safety Desk gets your location and your date's venue. Nothing sounds or shows on your phone.

  • Rescue call. A discreet call to your phone, so you have a reason to leave.

  • Check-ins. We ask if you're OK during the date. Miss one by 10 minutes and we alert your trusted contact and the Safety Desk.

  • A trusted contact. Someone you choose gets your date's venue and time when you share them.

Real people

  • A live check for everyone. Everyone shows they're a real person with a short camera check before being seen. The frames are seen only by the Safety Desk, kept for up to 12 months or until the account is deleted, and never compared with profile photos.

  • Every new photo is checked before anyone else sees it.

  • An optional Photo verified badge. A member can choose to compare a selfie with their photos. Only the safety team sees the selfie.

Report and block

Report or block anyone, from anywhere in the app. Blocking doesn't tell the other person. The Safety Desk reviews every report.

Cancelling a date for safety, blocking, reporting or unmatching refunds you both in full, any time, and it never counts against anyone.

Tips for a first date

  • Meet at the partner venue where your table is booked.

  • Tell a friend where you're going, or share your date with your trusted contact.

  • Arrange your own transport there and back.

  • Don't send money to anyone you meet on PlusOne. Your table is paid for in the app.

  • Report anyone who asks you for money, or who tries to move you off the app fast.
